FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are some answers to the most common questions players have.
YOU ARE PROBABLY WONDERING...
-
What is Mahjong?
Mahjong is part game, part puzzle, part social event—and just a little bit of chaos in the best way. It’s played with beautiful tiles, a card full of patterns, and just enough strategy to make you feel very smart… right before someone calls “Mahjong!” and ruins your plans. You’ll build hands, make quick decisions, and try to stay one step ahead of everyone at the table.
But honestly? It’s less about the tiles and more about the experience—laughing with friends, a little friendly competition, and those “wait… I think I’ve got it!” moments.
Fair warning: once it clicks, it’s hard to stop.
-
Do I need any experience?
Not at all. Beginner classes are designed for people who have never touched a tile. I will walk you through everything step-by-step.
-
How do I know if I’m beginner or intermediate?
If you’re still figuring out the tiles, flow of the game, or how to read the card—start with beginner. If you’ve played before and want to feel more confident and strategic, intermediate is your spot.
-
Will I actually learn how to play in one class?
Yes! You’ll leave knowing how the game works and feeling comfortable jumping into a real game. (Mastery comes with practice—but you’ll be well on your way.)
-
How long is the class?
Classes typically run about 2.5 hours—enough time to learn, play, and have a little fun along the way.
-
Where are classes held?
I teach in Billings and Bozeman, Montana. Private classes and events can be hosted at your home or a venue.
-
How many people are in a class?
We keep it small and social. You’ll need at least 4 people to book a class—because Mahjong is always better with a full table.
-
Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself! Everything you need to play will be provided.
-
How do I book a class?
Easy—just fill out the form below and I will be in touch.
-
Can I book a private event or party?
Girls’ nights, birthdays, team events—let’s talk about it and see if we can make it happen!
-
Do you travel?
For the right group or event, yes! Reach out with details and we’ll see what we can do.
-
Is Mahjong hard to learn?
It can feel a little confusing at first—but that’s part of the fun. It clicks quicker than you think, and once it does… you’re hooked.
